Joel has thirty years of experience as a quality engineer, manufacturing engineer and electrical engineer. He has worked with the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in support of US electrical manufacturers. He retired from NEMA in October 2021, and he and his family returned home to San Antonio to give back to the community. He currently serves as District 10 representative to the Building Standards Board. He is an election worker and a volunteer deputy registrar for Bexar County.
  • Sending a representative to City Council with a conservative, "just-say-no" approach to policy has not been beneficial for District 10, It has marginalized it. District 10 now lags our neighbor District 9 by $13K* in annual per capita income.
  • Given our proximity to the airport and access to major highways, community renewal should be a given.
  • But what do I see in most of our major thoroughfares? Empty commercial spaces, failing streets, homelessness, and neighborhoods disconnected from amenities. And GreatSchools.org rates a large number of schools in our district below average.
