Campaign themes
2016
Garnica's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[3]
Quality of life
- Excerpt: "We have our issues with crime, homelessness, and parking, to name a few. The progress we’ve made over the past dozen years is apparent to any resident that has called the 2nd District home for as long as I have. However, there is still work to do. I will continue to create the same effective partnerships that have enhanced my community and work hard to find efficiencies in our system to better serve the people of Long Beach and my fellow residents in the 2nd District."
Economy
- Excerpt: "As your Councilwoman, I will also fight to help new and existing businesses get through the red tape by streamlining the process. As a business owner in the 2nd District, I know first-hand of some of the challenges we face with our existing process."
Community
- Excerpt: "As your Councilwoman, I will continue to build community by providing safe places to gather, community events to attend, and by staying connected to neighborhood associations that listen to their residents with proactive relationships. I will work to unite groups with common goals to increase our effectiveness by combining expertise, human resources, and eliminating redundancies."
