What would be your top three priorities, if elected?

I have put-forth a change-driven, student-oriented platform that not only seeks to prepare our students and community for the 21st-century, but most importantly align our schools with the current needs and potential of every single one of our students. Particularly, my platform focuses on three key issues: providing an equitable education, supporting our teachers and staff, and ensuring our students' safety and well-being. First, our students have different needs, and our schools need to be able to accommodate to them. For example, we have to understand the different cultures embedded within each of our schools so we could be more relevant and effective in teaching. My goal is to ensure real inclusion in our schools. No matter their background, all of our students deserve to feel welcomed and supported at all times. Second, it's time to solve the problems our teachers and staff are facing. From the lack of autonomy in our classrooms to the unfair evaluation system that judges our teachers for students' test results, we need to work together to empower our educators. That's why I will be the voice for our teachers to make changes on these issues, working to provide more flexibility in the classroom while advocating for a fair and objective evaluation system created and supported by our local teachers. I will also serve as a voice for our support staff. We need to respect, value, and listen to the issues that our janitors, bus drivers and office clerks are facing, so we can provide them with solutions. Lastly, our students have the right to feel safe and welcomed in our schools. I will be working to increase our mental health resources and to provide effective methods to eradicate bullying and cyberbullying. As well, instead of arming our teachers with guns, we can arm them with knowledge and resources. Our students deserve to learn in an environment free from guns, violence, and discrimination.

What areas of public policy are you personally passionate about?

Education, Immigration, and Women's Rights.

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Florida

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.

Click here for an overview of legislative scorecards in all 50 states.  To contribute to the list of Florida scorecards, email suggestions to editor@ballotpedia.org.
