John A. Chesterman is a former Minnesota Third Judicial District judge for Freeborn County, Minnesota. He was appointed to this position by Gov. Perpich in 1990 and was elected to full terms in 1992, 1998 and 2004. He retired in 2011, leaving a vacancy in the Third Judicial District.[1]

Education

Judge Chesterman received his B.A. degree from the University of Minnesota in 1964. He then served in the Peace Corps for a year before returning to the University of Minnesota for law school. He received his J.D. degree in 1969.[2]

Career

He worked as a private practice lawyer from 1969 until he was appointed to the district court in 1990.[2]

2010 election

Chesterman was re-elected after running unopposed.[3]
