John Andersen is an at-large member on the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education in California. He was first elected to the board on November 4, 2014.

He ran against two incumbents and four challengers for three at-large seats on November 4, 2014.[1] John Andersen won the general election on November 4, 2014.

Andersen unsuccessfully ran for a seat on the board in 2008.

Andersen is a financial advisor and manager and also has experience in small business ownership and management. He and his family have lived in the Conejo Valley for 29 years. All three of his children attended schools in the Conejo Valley Unified School District from kindergarten through 12th grade.[2][3]

Three seats on the Conejo Valley Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. Two at-large incumbents, Mike Dunn and Patricia H. Phelps, ran for re-election against challengers John Andersen, Tony Dolz, David Fox, Bill A. Gorback and Brian T. Sullivan.

Dunn and Phelps won their bids for re-election, and Andersen won the third at-large seat.

Andersen highlighted the following priorities on his campaign website:

EXCELLENCE – Providing excellence in the classroom for all students; demanding excellence in the administration of the district

LOCAL CONTROL – Supporting independence for teachers with proven educational programs. Avoiding unproven and intrusive programs from Washington D.C.

CHOICE – Providing more program choices for parents, including elementary magnet schools and career-track high school programs.

NO SCHOOL CLOSURES – With innovative programs and commitment, there is no need to close any additional schools.

PARENTS’ RIGHTS – Supporting parents’ rights, including the right to opt in or out of controversial programs.[6]
