General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 27.4 percent of the vote. He competed against David Kelly, Eric A. Montgomery, and Carla Archie.

Bowers received his undergraduate degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993 and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 1997.[2]
