John Bowman (Illinois)
John J. Bowman was a judge on the Illinois Second District Appellate Court. He was elected to this position in November of 1990 and assumed office on December 3rd of that year.[1] He was retained in 2000 and 2010.[2][3]Judge Bowman passed away in 2012.[4]
Education
Judge Bowman attended the University of Illinois, where he received his B.A. degree in business administration. He then received a J.D. degree from the John Marshall Law School. From 1952 to 1954, he served in the U.S. Army Counter Intelligence Corps.[1]
Career
Judge Bowman began his legal career in 1959 as a private practice lawyer. He worked in this position until 1973. He also worked as a Deputy Public Defender from 1965 to 1973. He was then a State's Attorney for DuPage County until 1976, when he became a judge. He served on the 18th Judicial Circuit Court until his election to the Appellate Court in 1990.[1]
