John Brabender is a Republican media consultant and chief creative officer at Brabender Cox. He was the senior advisor and media consultant for Rick Santorum's 2016 presidential campaign.[1] Brabender previously worked on campaigns for former Rep. Tom Ridge (R-Pa.), Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) and Rep. Tim Murphy (R-Pa.). Brabender had previously worked with Santorum as a media advisor for all of Santorum's campaigns.[2]

Career

Brabender began his consulting career in 1982 with the U.S. House campaign of Tom Ridge. Beginning in 1990, Brabender worked with Santorum, who ran for the U.S. House against seven-term incumbent Doug Walgren (D). According to Roll Call, the 1990 campaign was the beginning of a partnership not usually seen in American politics: "It's uncommon in politics for a candidate to stick with a single media consultant for two decades, let alone when a candidate runs for president."[2]

The American Association of Political Consultants described Brabender as having an "attention-getting, creative style" with advertising. The association noted that from 1998 to 2008, Brabender Cox was "honored with more creative awards than any other political media firm in the country."[3]
