Campaign Message

As a resident of the most heavily taxed state in the union, I am a proponent of fiscal responsibility. The Board of Education should remain a careful steward of the tax payers money. Unfortunately, with unfunded State and Federal mandates, the financial burden falls heavily on us taxpayers. I want to make sure that we get as much bang for our buck as is possible.

List Your Top 3 Goals
1- Try to lower taxes. I know, I know, it’s crazy. I understand I can’t show up with a machete and just slice a budget to pieces, just as I will not look to immediately throw money at any problem that arises.

2-Look at things from a businessman’s perspective.

3-Look for ways to enhance revenue without putting it on the backs of taxpayers.

Why Should People Vote for You
I know that I have a lot to learn about the practices and procedures of the Board. I think that I have experience with the different organizations I’ve been involved with to bring some different insight to the Board. I know Jackson, I’m a resident of the area for 39 years, the last 23 as a homeowner in Jackson, and have seen the explosion that has taken place here. Also, I’m able and willing to work with people for a common goal– the success of our children, which is what this is all about. We have a wealth of talent in this town, from 2 tremendous marching bands, to successful sports teams, and a dedicated and hardworking workforce, from the teachers to the greatest bus drivers in the world! (Full disclosure– I’m married to a bus driver! ) The Board needs to recognize that talent and help nurture it.

What Would You Do Differently
Again, I know I have some learning to do, so for me to say, ” I’m going to change this or that “, I would be talking out of turn. I’m not interested in making promises just for the sake of making promises.[9]
