John C. Hayes III (South Carolina)
John C. Hayes III was a circuit court judge for the Sixteenth Judicial Circuit in South Carolina. He was elected to the court in May 1991 and took office in September 1991. Due to South Carolina's mandatory retirement age requirement, Hayes had to retire by December 31, 2017.[1][2][3]
Prior to joining the bench, Hayes served as a member of the South Carolina House of Representatives and the South Carolina Senate.[1]
Biography
Hayes earned a bachelor's degree in English and a J.D. from the University of South Carolina.[1]
Hayes' experience includes service in the U.S. Army Reserve and work as a clerk for state Supreme Court Chief Justice Joseph Moss and as an attorney with the firm Hayes, Brunson and Gatlin.[1]
