John C. Irby is the presiding judge for the East Central Judicial District of North Dakota. Irby is based out of Fargo, which is located in Cass County. He was appointed to the position in 2002 by Governor John Hoeven, and was elected in 2006 and 2012. He was elected to the position of presiding judge effective January 1, 2021 until January 31, 2022 to fill the remainder of Frank L. Racek's term.[1][2][3]

Irby earned his B.A. from Moorhead State University. He earned his J.D. from the University of Wyoming.[1]
