Biography
John Callahan is the retired director of the No Hunger Holiday. He has two children who are graduates of the district. Callahan earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri, Saint Louis.[1]

2017
Four seats on the Fort Zumwalt R-II School District school board were up for at-large general election on April 4, 2017. Three seats were up for three-year terms, and one extra seat was up for a one-year term, due to the resignation of a board member. A total of 15 candidates filed for the four seats.
Incumbents John Callahan and Craig Moore were successful in their bids for re-election, and were joined in their victory by newcomer Erica Powers for the three-year terms. They defeated board member Louie Gilbert and newcomers Tom Hobday, Jim Combs, Ryan Ozinga, and former candidates Arnie Dienoff and Jim Pepper. The one-year term saw Tommy George, Jr. defeat Diane Harlow, Earl Draper, Jr., Sarah Harashe, Garvis Pollard, and former candidate Genelle Speed-Hale.[2][3]

Elections for the Missouri House of Representatives took place in 2014. A primary election was held on August 5, 2014, and a general election on November 4, 2014. The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 25, 2014. John Callahan was unopposed in the Democratic primary. Incumbent Kurt Bahr defeated Michael Swyers in the Republican primary. Bahr faced Callahan in the general election.[4][5] Incumbent Bahr defeated Callahan in the general election, and was re-elected to another term.[6]

Fort Zumwalt R-II School Board
Callahan and faced incumbent Renee Porter and other challengers Christopher Hunter, Emily Malabey, Brent Meyers Robert Polkinghorne, Jim Pepper, Caleb Hunter, Craig Moore, and Daniel Ipson for three at-large seats in the general election on April 8, 2014. Porter, Callahan, and Meyers won the seats.

Callahan did not receive any official endorsements for his campaign.
2012
Callahan ran in the 2012 election for Missouri House of Representatives, District 102. He ran unopposed in the August 7 Democratic primary and was defeated by District 19 incumbent Kurt Bahr (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[8][9]
