Campaign themes

2014

Carlisle's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]

Bringing common sense back to Columbus

  • Excerpt: "Over the past few years, we’ve seen terrible partisanship take over our state Legislature. But John Carlisle is pragmatic – after owning a business for thirty years, he understands how to be fiscally responsible while still making smart choices. In Columbus, he will bring this same spirit of common sense and compromise to the Legislature where we so desperately need it."

Restoring cuts to local government

  • Excerpt: "After serving as Etna Township Trustee for twelve years, John understands the devastating impact that deep cuts to local governments have had on Ohio’s communities. As State Senator, John will work to restore funding to the 31st district to protect our schools, first responders and community infrastructure."

Fighting against any “right to work” effort

  • Excerpt: "John believes that fair wages and benefits are crucial for all Ohio workers. That’s why he has pledged to oppose any “right to work” policies in the Legislature. This dangerous agenda is wrong for Ohio’s working and middle-class families. John will fight to ensure that all Ohioans can find good-paying jobs here in our state without having to sacrifice safety on the job."
