John Cayce
John Cayce was a justice on the Texas Second District Court of Appeals. He was first elected to the court in 1994 and he was re-elected twice. His final term expired on December 31, 2012,[1][2] but Cayce resigned from the court in 2010.[3]
Education
Justice Cayce was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He served in the Navy Seabees from 1971 to 1975 and then entered college. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1978 and his J.D. degree from St. Mary's University School of Law in 1982.[1]
Career
Justice Cayce began his legal career as a briefing attorney for Charles Barrow of the Supreme Court of Texas. He left this position in 1983 and became a lawyer, practicing trial and appellate law in Fort Worth. He worked as a partner in the law firm Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff & Miller, L.L.P. until his election to the Court of Appeals in 1994. He has also judged for two cases on the Supreme Court of Texas.[1]
