The city of St. Louis, Missouri, held elections for mayor, comptroller, board of aldermen, and the St. Louis Community College in 2017. Fourteen of the 29 seats on the board were up for general election. Additionally, the Ward 16 seat held by Donna Baringer (D) was up for special election, following her successful election to the state house of representatives in 2016. Partisan primary elections took place on March 7, 2017. The general election between the primary winners took place on April 4, 2017.[1] Incumbent John Coatar (D) defeated Quinn Parks (Green) in the general election for Ward 7 of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen.[2]

The city of St. Louis, Missouri, held elections for its board of aldermen on April 7, 2015. A primary election took place on March 3, 2015.

Ward 7 incumbent Phyllis Young resigned from office in December 2014. The candidates for the Ward 7 Democratic primary election were John Coatar, Chelsea Merta, and Samuel J. Cummings, III. Coatar won the primary and ran unopposed in the general election.[3][4]

Jack has served as Alderman of the Seventh Ward for the past seven years, during which time, Jack has prioritized responding to the needs of the residents and businesses that he represents. Jack believes that all St. Louisans deserve to feel safe in their neighborhoods and have access to equitable, high-quality City services.

As an Alderman and senior member of several key committees, Jack has firsthand experience solving issues related to public safety, real estate and zoning activities, street and traffic improvements, and other City services. During his tenure on the Board, Jack has collaborated with City officials, neighborhood leaders, and fellow Aldermen to improve neighborhood safety and bring more than $800 million in new investments to St. Louis.

In addition to his service on the Board of Aldermen, Jack is an active member of his own neighborhood association, the Soulard Restoration Group, and serves as the Aldermanic representative on the Preservation Board where he works to protect historic buildings in the City.

Jack resides in Soulard with his wife, Susan, their newborn son, Harrison, and their dog, Archie.
