John Cook (Democratic Party) was the Mayor of El Paso Texas.

Cook (Democratic Party) ran for election for judge of the El Paso County Court in Texas. Cook lost in the Democratic primary runoff on May 22, 2018.

Biography

John Cook was born in Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Immaculata High School in 1964. Cook served in the U.S. Army from 1967 to 1970. He earned a bachelor's degree in business from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1977 and an alternative certification in special education from the University of Texas at El Paso in 1993. Cook's career experience includes serving as an installer at the Western Electric Company, Manager of Network Operations with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, financial planner with Waddell and Reed, and teacher with the El Paso Independent School District. Cook was appointed to serve as a member of the Homeland Security Advisory Council and the Southwest Border Task Force. He was also elected to serve on the El Paso City Council in 1999 and El Paso Mayor in 2005.[1]

Cook ran for election to the position of Texas Land Commissioner. Cook won the Democratic nomination in the unopposed primary on March 4, 2014.[2] The general election took place on November 4, 2014.
