John Donelson Martin, Sr. (1883-1962) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the 6th Circuit.

Judicial nominations and appointments

Western District of Tennessee

John Martin previously served on the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee.

He was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on April 22, 1935 to replace Harry Bennett Anderson. He was confirmed by the Senate on April 30th, and received commission on May 3rd. He served on this court until September 16, 1940.[1] Martin was succeeded in this position by Marion Boyd.

Sixth Circuit

He was nominated by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt on August 12, 1940 to a seat created by 54 Stat. 219. He was confirmed by the Senate on August 27th, and received commission on September 4th. In 1959, he was the chief judge. He served on this court until his death on April 2, 1962.[1]
