I am a fourth generation Nevadan and have lived in my ward for 33 years. I am a devoted husband and father to a 7 year old boy and I currently run a successful small business in residential real estate. In 2016 my company decided to support a local non profit, we found the Eddy House which serves our homeless youth. I was invited on to their board and am currently in my second term as their Board President. During my tenure I have led the organization from a drop-in center to a 24/7 facility that can house over 40 homeless youth. This experience is the catalyst for my run. I have seen first hand how bad the homeless issue is in our community and how poorly it is being handled. I believe in prevention and housing, with a strong focus on housing options for those that live on our river and in our public areas. I am a strong supporter of our police and fire and will focus on ways our community can support small businesses. I have no allegiance to anyone on the council and can be an independent voice when I'm elected but I also understand that I must collaborate with my colleagues in order to meet the needs of my ward.
  • I will work tirelessly to solve our community's homeless issue by focusing on prevention and housing options so that we can help those that live along the river transition to appropriate accomodations.
  • Strategize and collaborate to find ways to adequately fund our police and fire services to keep our community safe.
  • Promote smart policies and streamline our local government to help small businesses succeed.
We must treat the homeless issue with more urgency, this is a public health and safety issue for our houseless. This issue effects not only our homeless residents but our fellow residents, business community and overall health of our community. In my first day in office I will propose the city rehire their grant writer which was lost in the recession. This person will focus on applying and acquiring non-local private and federal money aimed at providing diverse housing segments that include transitional and permanent supportive housing and stronger shelter services.
My grandfather, Duke Drakulich. He was a soldier, a father of 9 children, inventor and a pillar of our community.
