John E. Hoffman, Jr. is the chief judge for the United States bankruptcy court, Southern District of Ohio. He was appointed to the court on February 25, 2000.[1][2][3]

Education

Judge Hoffman received his bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from Wheeling Jesuit University in 1980, and his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law with honors in 1983.[4][2]

Career

Hoffman was a partner in the Columbus office of Arter & Hadden LLP, where he practiced mainly in the areas of bankruptcy and commercial litigation.[1] He joined Arter & Hadden in 1989 after completing a judicial clerkship with the Honorable R. Guy Cole, Jr..[2]

Judge Hoffman is also an adjunct professor of law at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.[2][1]
