John Elwell
John Elwell (Democratic Party) ran for election to the Vermont House of Representatives to represent Orleans-Caledonia District. He lost in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Elwell was also a 2014 judicial candidate for the position of assistant judge in Orleans County, Vermont.[1]

Elwell ran for election to the Vermont Superior Courts, as an assistant judge of Orleans County.
Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on August 26, 2014, receiving 30.7 percent of the vote. He competed against Larry Duane and Joe Wood.
General: He was defeated in the general election on November 4, 2014, after receiving 14.2 percent of the vote. He competed against Democrat Larry Duane, Republican Benjamin M. Batchelder, Republican Curtis A. Hardy and Independent Bob Benson for two open seats.

Elwell received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado, Boulder.[4]
Career
Elwell serves as a trustee for the Northern Rivers Land Trust. He also works for interior decorators in Vermont and Massachusetts. He previously worked as a group representative for an insurance company and ran his own contracting business for twenty-five years.[4]
