John H. England, Jr. is a former judge of the 6th Circuit Court in Alabama. He was appointed to the court by Governor Don Sieglman in 2001. He was re-elected to the court without opposition in 2014.[1] His term expired on January 17, 2021.[2][3]

England was one of the first African Americans admitted to the University of Alabama School of Law.[4] He served briefly on the Alabama Supreme Court, following an appointment, but he was defeated in the 2000 election.

Judge England received his undergraduate degree from Tuskegee University in 1969 and his J.D. from the University of Alabama in 1974.[5][4]

In 2013, England's son, John H. England, was appointed a magistrate judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama.[6]
