John Everett Williams
John Everett Williams was a judge of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Western Section. He assumed office in 1998. He left office on September 2, 2022.
Williams ran for re-election for judge of the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals Western Section. He won in the retention election on August 4, 2022.
Williams was appointed to the court by Republican Governor Don Sundquist in November 1998.[1] He was retained in 2000, 2006, 2014, and 2022. Williams died on September 2, 2022.[2]
Education
Williams received his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from the University of Tennessee at Martin and his J.D. degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1981.[3]
Career
Williams began his legal career in 1981 as a lawyer with Williams & Williams Attorneys at Law. He worked in this capacity until his appointment to the Tennessee Court of Criminal Appeals in November 1998.[3]
