John F. Stavely
John F. Stavely is a former judge for the Boulder County Court in Colorado. He was appointed to the court in 2001.[1] Stavely retired on January 10, 2017.[2]
Biography
Stavely received his undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado and in 1978, his J.D. from the University of North Dakota School of Law. Before joining the county court, Stavely practiced with the firm Chrisman, Bynum and Johnson. He also served as judge on the Louisville Municipal Court.[3]

Stavely was retained in the general election on November 6, winning 74.83 percent of the vote.[4]
Judicial performance evaluation
The Twentieth Judicial District Commission on Judicial Performance announced its recommendations for judges up for retention in 2012. According to its website, the commission evaluates judges based on the following criteria: integrity, legal knowledge, communication skills, judicial temperament, and administrative performance.
Judge Stavely was recommended for retention by an unanimous vote. [3]
