Campaign themes

2016

Farrell's 2016 campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Improve Our Neighborhood Safety

  • Let's crack down on Crime! I support increased police patrolling and making sure they are trained and well equipped.
  • Address the homeless on our neighborhood streets and help them get the assistance they need; especially those with mental and drug issues. Emergency public housing must be made available and utilized.
  • Prevent aggressive panhandling and camping on our streets.
  • Transform our high injury corridors through improved street design to prevent accidents to pedestrians and bicyclists. I support Vision Zero.

Help Families Stay In San Francisco

  • Build more middle-income housing.
  • Address children and family issues and focus on providing necessary services such as child care and senior programs.
  • Oppose new taxes and fees that will affect our families.
  • Improve our parks and protect our environment.
  • Plan for future generations and prepare for the City's projected increase of population without compromising sustainability.

Revitalize Our Commercial Districts and Support Local Businesses

  • Support local businesses.
  • Work closely with merchants to ensure their concerns are addressed.
  • Keep streets safe and clean.
  • Build more housing above stores in commercial districts.

Make City Hall Accountable

  • Identify current revenue sources that have not been addressed, hold City departments accountable in order to cut waste, and prioritize essential services and programs.

Improve Our Transportation Infrastructure

  • Create an intricate public transportation system that provides a safe, affordable, efficient and sustainable way for commuters to travel anywhere in San Francisco.
  • Help improve Muni. It needs to have minimal interruptions, especially during rush hour, and have enough vehicles to support the system.
  • Design our streets to better support traffic (including pedestrian and bicyclists) in a more efficient and safer way.[4][5]
