John C. Foster was a judge for the 16th Circuit Court and the Macomb County Probate Court in Macomb County, Michigan. He was appointed to the 16th Circuit Court on April 26, 2006, by former Democratic Governor Jennifer Granholm. Foster was last re-elected unopposed on November 4, 2014, to a term expiring on December 31, 2020. However, he retired before the end of the term on April 30, 2015.[1][2]  [3]

Foster also served as chief judge of the 16th Circuit Court from April 2013 until his retirement.[4]

Education

Foster received his B.A. degree from Alma College and his J.D. from the Detroit College of Law in 1977.[4]

Career

Foster is a former private practice attorney. He also previously served as an assistant and later as a corporate counsel for Macomb County prior to his appointment to the 41B District Court in November 1990. He served there until his appointment to the 16th Circuit Court in 2006.[4][5][6]
