John G. Lowther
John George "Jack" Lowther is a former civil division judge of the Jefferson County District Court in Alabama.[1] He joined the court on February 14, 2002, and retired on November 1, 2015.[2][3]
Education
Lowther attended the University of Alabama, from where he received both his undergraduate and law degrees.[2]
Career
Lowther was admitted to the practice of law on November 15, 1974. He then worked as a lawyer for over 27 years before becoming a judge. He practiced general civil law with a focus on commercial transactions, insurance subrogation and creditor/debtor transactions. He taught business law and estates and trusts at the University of Alabama for two years. From 1980 until he became a judge in 2002, he worked part-time as a Vestavia Hills Municipal Judge.[2]
