John C. Gavan was a member of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC), the state body charged with regulating the state's utility companies. Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) appointed Gavan on December 17, 2018. The Colorado State Senate confirmed Gavan's appointment on January 28, 2019.[1]

Before joining the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC), Gavan was a member of the Board of Directors for Delta-Montrose Electric Association for five years. He was a director of information technology at MCI Communications for 19 years. Gavan was an information technology contractor at NASA headquarters in Washington, D.C. He also worked as director of the project management office for GXS Corporation in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Gavan served as an engineering and communications officer in the U.S. Navy.

Gavan began serving as a member of the Colorado Public Utilities Commission in January 2019. He was appointed to the commission on December 17, 2018, by Gov. John Hickenlooper (D) to succeed Commissioner Wendy Moser. The Colorado State Senate confirmed Gavan's appointment on January 28, 2019.[1][2]
