John D. Geathers is a judge on the South Carolina Court of Appeals. He was elected to this position on May 21, 2008, to finish the unexpired term of John Kittredge. He was qualified and took office on July 31, 2008. He was re-elected in 2013.[1] He was re-elected in February 2019.[2] Geathers was re-elected by the South Carolina Legislature in March 2025.[3]
Education
Geathers received his B.A. from the University of South Carolina in 1983 and his J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in 1986.[4]
Career
Geathers began his legal career in 1987 as Senior Staff Counsel for the Office of Senate Research. On May 25, 1994, he was elected to the South Carolina Administrative Law Court, where he served from early 1995 until he joined the Court of Appeals in July 2008.[4]
