| Collapse all
- Maine's government is both rigged and corrupt. Its actions and inactions are the cause of most of our societal problems. It is the product of two centuries of partisan politics that continues to put the parties and the favored special interests above the public interest. We will never solve our problems unless we solve our problems with the government. We must reform "the system". My plan is to appoint an apolitical panel of government experts to review Maine's constitution, laws, rules, and policies. This will include much public input and will continue during my entire term of office. The panel will recommend changes as appropriate. The result will hopefully be a much more democratic government.
- Maine's government is both grossly inefficient and ineffective. This likely results in untold millions of dollars wasted and misspent with little or no accountability. Maine's executive branch must be operated as efficiently and effectively as possible. I will institute a process of continuous improvement by creating an independent team of auditors who will continuously audit every aspect of the executive branch, e.g. all programs, etc. to determine whether or not they are functioning as required. At present, there is no such function which is desperately needed. The feedback is then used to make necessary changes and improvements. I will also advocate for a progressive tax structure to help fund necessary expenditures.
- As governor, I will put people first. As an independent, I will not be beholden to any political party and I will do my best to bridge the ideological divide that is destroying our state and our nation. We must take care of and protect those who need help the most-our homeless, our elderly, our poor, our hungry, our mentally ill, those addicted to drugs, our abused and neglected children, the LGBTQ+ community, etc. I will hold weekly town halls and I intend to truly be the peoples' governor. I will strongly support our public education system. I will support our state employees by being an ally rather than an adversary. I will support tribal sovereignty, people of color and our immigrant community.
