John Thomas Greenewas an Article III federal judge for the United States District Court of Utah. He joined the court in 1985 after being nominated by President Ronald Reagan (R). Greene served on senior status from November 28, 1997, until his death on February 11, 2011.[1]

Education

Greene graduated from the University of Utah with both his bachelor's degree and J.D. degrees, in 1952 and 1955.[1]

Judicial nominations and appointments

District of Utah

On the recommendation of Utah U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R), Greene was nominated by President Ronald Reagan (R) on March 7, 1985, to a new seat created by 98 Stat. 333. Greene was confirmed by the Senate on April 3, 1985, and received commission on April 4, 1985. Greene later assumed senior status on November 28, 1997. His service ended on February 11, 2011, when he died. Greene was succeeded in this position by Judge Brian Stewart.
