John H. England is a magistrate judge for the United States District Court for the Northern District of Alabama. He was appointed to the court in 2013.[1]

Biography

Early life and education

England is the son of John England, Alabama circuit judge and former Alabama Supreme Court justice. England received his undergraduate and J.D. degrees from the University of Alabama.[2]

Military service

England served in the Alabama National Guard and Army Reserve from 1988 to 1995.[2]

Professional career

England began his legal career as a clerk for Alabama Supreme Court Justice Terry L. Butts. Next, he was an associate attorney with the firm Watson McKinney LLP for two years. In 1999, England joined the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Alabama. Eleven years later, he became the first assistant United States attorney, where he served until joining the court.[2]
