Hagan ran for re-election to the Ohio State Board of Education to represent District 9. He won in the general election on November 8, 2022.
On January 31, 2022, Gov. Mike DeWine (R) announced new district boundaries for the Ohio State Board of Education as part of Ohio’s redistricting after the 2020 census. Hagan is a former Republican member of the Ohio House of Representatives. He represented the District 50.

John Hagan earned a bachelor's degree from Kent State University. His career experience includes working as a businessman.[1]
