John Hanger
John Hanger was a Democratic candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania in the 2014 elections.[1][2] Hanger served formerly as the Pennsylvania Secretary of Environmental Protection.
Biography
Hanger was named to the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission by Gov. Bob Casey in 1993. He then founded PennFuture, which advocated for stronger environmental regulations. In 2008, Gov. Ed Rendell appointed Hanger as head of the state Department of Environmental Protection.[3]

On November 26, 2012, Hanger announced that he would seek the 2014 Democratic nomination for Governor of Pennsylvania.[1] Republican incumbent Tom Corbett was up for re-election in 2014.[4] Hanger qualified for the primary ballot but withdrew before the primary election.[2]
