Campaign themes
2012
Decker's campaign website listed the following issues:[2]
- Improving Our Economy
- Excerpt: "The economy is the single most important issue facing our country. The economy encompasses jobs and unemployment, our deficits and national debt, and even our consumer confidence and individual pride."
- Reducing Our Dependence On Foreign Oil
- Excerpt: "Rising volatility in the Middle East increases the probability of supply interruptions. The aversion to domestic production and unwillingness to face the realities and subsequent consequences of a possible interruption by my opponent leaves our fragile economy vulnerable while simultaneously posing a risk to our national security."
- Healthcare Reform
- Excerpt: " It is irresponsible of any elected official to simply ignore Medicare knowing that is in serious trouble. Sadly, we have grown accustomed to politicians side-stepping issues and kicking the can down the road. Our elected officials, including my opponent, continue to avoid important issues such as entitlement reform and unsustainable deficits."
- Improving Education for Our Children
- Excerpt: "Securing the future of our children should be the goal of virtually every politician. Yet the role of the federal government in education is a complicated one. At its core, Washington needs to provide support, direction, control, standards and research."
