The general election in Lake County featured three seats up for election on August 26, 2014. Incumbent William John Mathias faced a challenge from John J. Ardizone for the District 1 seat. The District 3 race included incumbent Tod Andre Howard and challengers Jamie Maret Hanja and Marc Anthony Dodd. Newcomers Nancy L. Muenzmay, Peter E. Tarby and Stephanie Ann Luke were running to replace Kyleen Fischer, who did not file for re-election in District 5.

The general election determined if candidates for each seat could garner a majority of the vote total. If no candidate received 50 percent plus one of the general election votes in a particular district, the top two vote recipients advanced to the runoff election on November 4, 2014.
