John Halvorson was a judge for the Chaves County Magistrate Court, Division II, in New Mexico. He was elected to the court in 2010, and took office in January 2011.[1] He was re-elected in 2014 for a term that expired on December 31, 2018.[2] Halvorson served in office until his death on August 12, 2015.[3]

Halvorson ran for re-election to the Chaves County Magistrate Court.
Primary: He ran unopposed in the Republican primary on June 3, 2014.
General: He was unopposed in the general election on November 4, 2014. [2][4] 

2010

Halvorson defeated Will Cavin in the Republican primary and Oscar R. Gonzalez in the general election, winning 76.4 percent of the vote to the magistrate court.[5]

Halvorson accumulated over 120 hours of college credit at the following universities:

Career

Halvorson previously worked as the DWI Coordinator for Chaves County and a court compliance office. He also spent 20 years with the Roswell Police Department as a patrol officer, traffic accident investigator, police pursuit motorcycle instructor, crime prevention officer, honor guard commander and sergeant.[7]
