John J. Mahoney (Democratic Party) is a judge for the 4th Subcircuit of the Cook County Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois. He assumed office on December 1, 2014. His current term ends on December 7, 2026.

Mahoney ran for re-election for the 4th Subcircuit judge of the Cook County Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois. He won in the retention election on November 3, 2020.

Education

Between 1977 and 1980, Mahoney attended Triton Community College and North Central College. He earned his B.A. in political science from DePaul University in 1981. He received his J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1984.[1]

Primary: He was successful in the Democratic primary on March 18, 2014, receiving 32.6 percent of the vote. He competed against Brian Joseph Stephenson, James Ryan, Daniel L. Peters and Maureen Masterson Pulia.
General: He defeated Ian Brenson in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 59.0 percent of the vote. [3][4][5][6]
