John J. Mahoney
John J. Mahoney (Democratic Party) is a judge for the 4th Subcircuit of the Cook County Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois. He assumed office on December 1, 2014. His current term ends on December 7, 2026.
Mahoney ran for re-election for the 4th Subcircuit judge of the Cook County Judicial Circuit Court in Illinois. He won in the retention election on November 3, 2020.
Education
Between 1977 and 1980, Mahoney attended Triton Community College and North Central College. He earned his B.A. in political science from DePaul University in 1981. He received his J.D. from the Chicago-Kent College of Law in 1984.[1]

Mahoney has practiced law in Cook County continuously since 1984. He began his career as an assistant state's attorney in Cook County.[1]

General: He defeated Ian Brenson in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 59.0 percent of the vote.
