John K. McGuirk was a justice of the Orange County Supreme Court in the 9th Judicial District of New York. He was elected to that position in 2000 and retired in 2011.[1][2][3]

Education

McGuirk received his B.A. degree from Manhattan College in 1963, his J.D. degree from Boston College Law School in 1966 and his LLM degree from New York University in 1971.[1]

Career

McGuirk began his career in 1967 serving in the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General (JAG) Corps. as an assistant professor of law at West Point Military Academy. He then joined the law firm of Rider, Weiner & Loeb, where he worked as an associate until 1973. He worked as a partner of McGuirk, Levinson, et al from 1976 to 1995. During that time, he also served as a Justice for the Cornwall Town Court. He was then elected to the Orange County Family Court, where he served from 1995 to 1999. In 2000, he joined the Supreme Court.[1]
