- In 2000, while in Congress, John Kasich voted for an amendment to allow the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to investigate bodies of water with the potential to be contaminated.[1]
- Kasich voted in favor of a bill that would have created a "$50 million forest recovery and protection program managed by the U.S. Forest Service."[2]
- In 1995, Kasich voted in favor of a bill that dedicated $2.3 billion per year through 2000 to programs under the Clean Water Act. The bill also required reimbursement to land owners for diminished property value due to EPA actions and prohibited new water quality standards with "no reasonable relationship between the cost and anticipated benefits of attaining such standard."[3]
- As governor in 2012, Kasich signed a bill to limit the amount and circumstances under which water could be withdrawn from the Great Lakes.[4]
