John King (Republican Party) is the Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner. He assumed office on July 1, 2019. His current term ends on January 11, 2027.
King (Republican Party) ran for election to the U.S. Senate to represent Georgia. He will not appear on the ballot for the general election on November 3, 2026.
Biography
John King earned a bachelor's degree from Brenau University and a graduate degree from the United States Army War College. His career experience includes working in law enforcement.[1]
Political career
Georgia Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner (2019 - Present)
King was appointed as the insurance commissioner on June 12, 2019, after Jim Beck was suspended from the position. Beck was indicted in May 2019 on charges of wire fraud, mail fraud, and money laundering.[2] King assumed office on July 1, 2019.[3] As commissioner, King leads the statewide office responsible for regulating the state's insurance industry and oversees all Georgia fire safety initiatives.
