John Kriesel
John Kriesel is a former Republican member of the Minnesota House of Representatives, representing District 57A from 2011 to 2013. In May 2011, Governing Magazine named Kriesel one of 17 "GOP Legislators to Watch." Each of the legislators was selected on the basis of qualities like leadership, ambition, and political potential.[1]
Kriesel works for a private firm as a marketing and advertising contractor to the MN Army National Guard. He is a retired member of the Minnesota Army National Guard. John enlisted in the Guard on his 17th birthday, and served for 10 years while maintaining a full time civilian job.

Kriesel told the Real Capitol Review in November 2012 that he was considering running for Governor of Minnesota in the 2014 elections.[2]
2010
Kriesel won election to the District 57A seat in 2010. He had no primary opposition. He faced Jen Peterson (DFL) in the general election on November 2, 2010.[3]

Scorecards
Taxpayers League of Minnesota
The Taxpayers League of Minnesota, a Minnesota-based taxpayer advocacy organization, releases a legislative scorecard for the Minnesota House of Representatives and Minnesota State Senate once a year. The scorecard gives each legislator a score based on how they voted in the prior legislative term on tax issues and “their efforts to balance the state budget without a tax increase.” The organization also compiles a legislator’s individual "Lifetime Score."[4]
2012
Kriesel received a score of 43% in the 2012 scorecard, ranking 66th out of all 134 Minnesota House of Representatives members.[5]

Kriesel received a score of 77% in the 2011 scorecard, ranking 43rd out of all 134 Minnesota House of Representatives members. [6]
