John L. Wheeler was a judge for the Colorado 18th Judicial District. He was appointed to the court in October of 2006 and was later retained by voters in 2014.[1]  Wheeler retired from the court on January 11, 2021. [2]

Education

Wheeler graduated from Cornell University in 1972. He earned his J.D. from the University of Colorado School of Law in 1982.[1]

Career

Wheeler began his legal career in 1983 as a lawyer with Pryor, Carney and Johnson in Greenwood Village, Colorado. He later joined the practice of Antonio Bates Bernard in Denver, where he worked until his judicial appointment in 2006.

Wheeler was a restaurateur in Summit County, Colorado for six years prior to attending law school.[1]

Elections

2014

Wheeler was retained to the Eighteenth Judicial District with 67.6 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014. [3] 

Judicial performance evaluation

The Colorado Commissions on Judicial Performance recommended that Judge Wheeler be Retained. The full report is available here.
