I was born in Gulfport, raised in Saucier by my Father James "Jimmy" Barnes, he worked hard hauling dirt/gravel with his dump truck. He taught my brother and I the value of hard work and respect, sometimes he reminded us with a plum switch as needed. I graduated Harrison Central in May 1986, went right into the Army Airborne. After my active duty enlistment I joined the Army Guard while I went to College for Air Conditioning, received an Associates Degree. I switched over to the Army Reserves where I became a Basic Training Drill Sergeant during the Gulf War. I came back home and started Barnes Heating & Air for 25yrs. I am married to Christina (NP) for 33yrs. We have 3 grown married children John Jr., Erica and Jennifer. 4 Amazing grand babies with number 5 coming in June! I am an Active Member of the Catholic Church, a District Deputy/ State Faith Director in the Knights of Columbus. I am Civilian Representative not a Politician.
  • Run government like a business or household does
  • Promote real education for all children
  • Work with local businesses to increase growth
I believe our education system needs to stop training for tests and focus on Real Learning with real measurements, as a special education student myself growing up, I can see the importance of Hands on learning. I will campion a Blue Collar Skills program with added attention to Leadership & Management advancement training for future career growth.
Jesus Christ, He is the most challenging to follow for me at times.
Ronald Reagan he told it like it was, tough and fair, a Real American Patriot.
It's not about me, God has given me a legacy of 3 children and many grandchildren, it's my duty to make sure they and all children have the same legacy so many before us fought and died for.
My first real paying job, outside helping my family run a gas station in McHenry where we had full service at self serve prices or changing truck tires on my Daddy's dump truck, was at 15, I helped build concrete Sceptic Tanks there in Saucier on HWY 49 out in the summer sun with no shade on a tight schedule to put the forms together and oil them down so the concrete wouldn't stick, busy pour day, then break the huge medal forms back down to get the tanks out with a crane, then repeat next week! They were dirty but not used, lol
We have too many fictional characters running around these days, am not playing dress up!!!
You asked for it Row Row Row Your Boat----- enjoy!
People all around this country are moving to the Free State of Mississippi for a reason, we need to plan infrastructure for the growth.
I am new to the "Industry". Our Founding Fathers set OUR system of government up for people just like me.
Yes, when needed with an end date or goal to include a scheduled outline for measuring the ongoing need.
Compromise should always be a good thing, however it is a sneaky word for sacrificing something. I will be guarding against sacrificing values, they are too hard to replace.
A bill to evaluate why MS Universities sale degrees to people to which jobs don't exist in MS?
Example: Kinesiology
Workforce Development

Universities and Colleges
Drug Policy

Energy
