John M. Paternoster
John M. Paternoster was a judge in the Eighth Judicial District of New Mexico. Paternoster was appointed to the bench in April 2006, elected in November 2006 and retained in 2008.[1] He was retained again in 2014.[2]
Paternoster retired from the bench on July 17, 2015.[3]
Education
Paternoster received his undergraduate degree from the University of New Mexico and his J.D. from Gonzaga School of Law.[1]
Career
Prior to his judicial appointment in 2006, Paternoster worked in several positions. He was a private practice attorney, an assistant attorney general, deputy district attorney, elected district attorney and a municipal judge.[1]
Elections
2014
Paternoster was retained to the 8th District Court with 77.9 percent of the vote on November 4, 2014.
Judicial performance evaluation
The New Mexico Judicial Performance Evaluation Commission recommended that Judge Paternoster be retained. The full report is available here.
