John Marshall Kest was a judge of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Florida. He began serving in January of 2003, and he was re-elected in 2014 without opposition.[1][2][3] His six-year term expired on January 4, 2021.[4]

Kest is married to fellow judge Sally D. M. Kest.[5]

As an unopposed candidate, he was automatically re-elected without appearing on the ballot. [3] 

Education

Kest received his undergraduate degree from Rollins College in 1970 and his J.D. degree from Florida State University College of Law in 1972.[6][7]

Career

Kest began his career during law school, working as a law clerk for the Florida Industrial Relations Commission from 1971 to 1972. He spent the rest of his pre-judicial career, from 1973 to 2003, as a partner of the law firm of Wooten, Honeywell & Kest, P.A.[7]

Since joining the circuit court in 2003, Kest has served in the following divisions: Orange County Juvenile (2003-04), Orange County Criminal (2005-06), Osceola County Civil (2007-09) and Orange County Civil (2010-11).[6]
