John Marvin Jones (1886-1976) was a federal judge on the United States Court of Claims. He was nominated to the court by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on April 9, 1940, and was confirmed the following day. He received commission on November 20, 1940. He was commissioned as chief justice on July 9, 1947, after an appointment by Harry Truman. The following year, he was reassigned as chief judge. He assumed senior status on July 14, 1964, and served in that capacity until his death on March 4, 1976.[1]

Education

Jones received an A.B. from John Denton College in 1902, a B.S. from Southwestern University in 1905, and an LL.B. from the University of Texas School of Law in 1907.[1]

Military service

Jones served in the U.S. Army as a private in the 308th Battalion, Tank Corps, in 1918.[1]
