Three of the seven seats on the East Central Independent School District school board were up for general election on November 8, 2016. District 3 incumbent John Massengale filed for re-election and was running unopposed. In District 4, incumbent Victor Garza was the sole candidate to file in the race. District 6 incumbent Claudia Barrientos faced challengers Mona Lopez and Amanda Rivas.[1]
