Massengale won re-election to the East Central Independent School District to represent District 3 in Texas outright after the general election on November 3, 2020, was canceled.

Three of the seven seats on the East Central Independent School District school board were up for general election on November 8, 2016. District 3 incumbent John Massengale filed for re-election and was running unopposed. In District 4, incumbent Victor Garza was the sole candidate to file in the race. District 6 incumbent Claudia Barrientos faced challengers Mona Lopez and Amanda Rivas.[1]
