John Mitchell Jr. (Delaware)
John Mitchell Jr. (Democratic Party) (also known as Larry) was a member of the Delaware House of Representatives, representing District 13. He assumed office on November 8, 2006. He left office on November 8, 2022.
Mitchell (Democratic Party) ran for re-election to the Delaware House of Representatives to represent District 13. He lost in the Democratic primary on September 13, 2022.
Biography
Representative John “Larry” Mitchell attended the University of Delaware and Delaware Technical and Community College. He went on to graduate from the Delaware State Police Academy and the New Castle County Police Academy. After graduation he began his career as a member of the Elsmere Police Department and later joined the New Castle County Police Department. He retired in 2006 with the rank of Senior Sergeant. Upon retiring from the police force, Mitchell became the Campus Chief of Public Safety for Delaware Technical and Community College. He is a former President and State Lodge Vice President of the Delaware State Fraternal Order of Police, a lifelong member of the Elsmere Fire Company, and has served on the Town of Elsmere Planning Board Commission and the Little Mill Flood Abatement Committee.
In 2006 Representative Mitchell was elected to represent District 13 in the Delaware House of Representatives. He was re-elected to this seat in 2018. Rep. Mitchell has served on the Administration, Ethics, Gaming & Parimutuels, Judiciary, Legislative Council, and Rules committees.[1]

On November 4, 2008, Mitchell won re-election to the Delaware House of Representatives from Delaware's 13th District.
