Party switch

On January 8, 2016, Moore switched his party affiliation from Republican to Libertarian.[9] Moore is the highest-ranking Libertarian ever in Nevada and the first Libertarian member since 1992 to serve in the state legislature of any state. New Hampshire was the last state to have a Libertarian member in the legislature.[10]

Brett Pojunis, the Nevada Libertarian Party Chair, said that Moore switched parties because "he [Moore] felt it was no longer possible to work in a two-party environment." On the other hand, Jason Weinman, the Outreach Director of the Nevada Libertarian Party, told Dale Napier of Let’s Talk Nevada, that "Moore felt he had no chance as a Republican in a rematch against Frierson."[11]

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Nevada

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
