John Nicholson
John Nicholson was the interim secretary of environmental quality for North Carolina. Gov. Roy Cooper (D) appointed Nicholson on June 3, 2021, to replace Dionne Delli-Gatti, whose nomination was rejected by the state Senate that day.[1]
Nicholson served as the interim secretary until July 1, 2021, when Gov. Cooper's new appointee, Elizabeth Biser, was sworn in.[1]
Biography
John Nicholson served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 28 years and reached the rank of colonel. Nicholson earned a bachelor's degree in political science from San Diego State University, a master's degree in national security and strategic studies from the U.S. Naval War College, and a master's degree in military studies from the U.S. Marine Corps Command and Staff College. His career experience includes working as a military affairs advisor to two North Carolina governors.[2]
